
Lorna Simpson is a Black interdisciplinary artist with focus on giving a voice to the marginalized. Her practice combines photography, collage, and typography to create distinct narratives that challenge controlling stereotypes surrounding Black American culture.
Tasked with creating an expressive typographic poster, I combined Lorna’s methodology of collage by combining an image from Jet magazines and adding layers of typographic integration to create a poster for a fictional lecture given by Lorna Simpson.


Expressing each movement seperately, but whole.
With “Concerto for Orchestra,” their are several moods and theme captured throughout the work.
I wanted to express each movement separately and unify them into one piece. Similar to how Bartok treats single orchestral instruments as soloist elements.
